染型丈・笹

size: 63 × 97 cm, 奥行き 4.5 cm (木枠込み・Size of wood frame included) ,

伊勢型紙のみ（IseKatagami size） 51 × 83.5 cm

着物の一部分（袖など）に使われていた染型です。

最初の画像には障子紙を裏に貼っています。

"見当"としての木枠の出っ張りがあります。

染台か何かの一部分を凹しておいて、木枠の凸部分を嵌めて定位置に固定したものだと思われます。

穴があいた部分の1つはテープのようなもので補修済み、もう1つは空いたままです。

側面に「岡村　竹　一辺　ハク」とマジックで書かれています。

岡村は染め工場のようです。

最後の写真は現在の染め工場の様子です。

Kimono Dyeing stencil(screen)

Ise-katagami is Japanese paper coated with Kakishibu( ≒ persimmon tannin).

It is then carved into a stencil and a mesh fabric called "紗 sa" is pasted onto it and used as a dyeing stencil.　This product has a wooden frame to make it easier to hold and work with.

This is a stencil for dyeing one part of a kimono

The last photo shows the current work in the dyeing factory.

The frame may be made of aluminium.

There are two holes, one of which has been repaired with tape.

Shoji paper(white Washi paper) is applied to the back of the wooden frame in the first photo.

It is very nice if you can put paper over the stencil to let the light in from the back, or if you can see natural greenery beyond the stencil.

If the dye can be washed away with water, it can actually be dyed, I think.
